HOT AND TANGY SAUCES

BeeSting Honey N' Habanero Pepper Sauce

You've heard of the infamous Africanized Killer Bees – we've turned the tables on these prolific honey producers, which are actually the predominant bee species in the rainforests of Costa Rica, by tapping into their golden harvest to produce BeeSting Honey N' Habanero Pepper Sauce. Like honey to a bee, this sweet-hot concoction is a soothing, satisfying complement to your favorite dishes. An Asian/Thai variant on traditional habanero sauce, Bee Sting Honey N' Habanero features a hint of black pepper, lemon and garlic blended in a pure honey base. Great on curries, stir-fry, Chinese take-out, grilled shrimp, pork and even ice cream – no kidding! $6.95

  Iguana Radioactive

SORRY  GUYS

 THIS HAS  SOLD OUT.

So you like it hot, do you? A full 50% hotter than our Iguana XXX, this blistering blend of “top secret” hot peppers, with a total pepper content of 65%, is definitely not for the faint of heart. In fact, this sauce is pretty much as hot as we think can be tolerated by any sort of reasonably sane person. And as for those artificial pepper-extract sauces, we say “Stop the insanity!” We've crafted Iguana Radioactive from fresh, natural ingredients in a kitchen, not a laboratory. It's a great sauce for a natural pepper high when you just feel like cutting loose and experimenting with spontaneous combustion. It's actually very tasty as well, with a bright lime, carrot, onion and garlic base. Super-naturally hot and all-natural, too. $5.95

 Tamarindo Bay Steak Sauce

Tamarindo Bay brings forth visions of warm surf and world-class billfishing to many. But here, Tamarindo Bay Steak Sauce reinvents the concept of a red meat, roast, game and poultry sauce. Created with fruit, spice and a dash of pepper, and with a nod to the traditional English/Jamaican pepper sauces, this thick tropical sauce offers the perfect accompaniment to all grilled, baked and broiled meats and poultry, cheeses, gravies, stews and tofu dishes too.

The driving flavor here is the Tamarind ("Tamarindo" in Spanish), a date-like fruit you've met in Worcestershire Sauce, blended in a base of banana, pineapple, cayenne pepper, molasses, onion, garlic and spices. Tamarindo Bay is similar to the popular Jamaican "Pic-a-Pepper Sauce" but fruitier, sweeter and a bit hotter. We love to marinate chops in this sauce, cut with 50% white wine or beer and a healthy dose of garlic. Go ahead, take the drop.  $5.95

Caribbean concoction

Shiver me timbers, can you say Lizano? This Caribbean concoction is in a class by itself, with nary a one comparable condiment here on the mainland. A ginger, cumin, mustard, garlic, celery and cayenne sauce, Pirates Blend really shines on all seafoods, poultry, pork, red or black beans, rice dishes, Mexicali dishes and eggs. It's spicier than it is hot, and there isn't a table in Costa Rica that doesn't have a variation of this sauce on it. It's da kine! It sure makes a lifetime of beans, chicken and rice more palatable.  $5.95

BeeSting Brand Rainforest Honey Mustard

As rare and seductive as a tropical rainforest, this sweet and creamy, pourable honey mustard contains a hint of papaya as well as the tiniest little habanero surprise to keep you on your toes. Great on sandwiches, or with chicken, pork or shrimp, Bee Sting Rainforest Honey Mustard is all-natural, too! (Try the thicker, spreadable version in a 9 oz. jar.)  $6.95
